Membership Service

2006/7

  • Increase the overall membership and the scope of membership.
  • Seek to promote the 'Family of Rotary' drawing in our own families, Inner Wheel and Rotaract
  • Work on the 'public image' of both the Club and Rotary
  • Ensure that the flow of information around the Club is as efficent and effective as possible.

 

Community Service

2006/7

  • Organise the Children's pantomime visit to Derngate theatre.
  • Send helpers/volunteers to the Calvert Trust week.
  • Support the Kids Out Fun Day, 13th June, at Wicksteed park.
  • Sponsor another needy family for a week's holiday.
  • Work with Sailability to attract more sailors/helpers with disabilities to the Club at Pitsford Water.
  • Continue with the transport project, assisting blind and partially blind people to their meetings.
  • Caring for young carers: a continuing project in collaboration with Beckett Club
  • Elderly persons outing in September.

 

Youth and Vocational Service

2006/7

  • Trusts : Continue the management of the Perkins and Graystone Trusts and the Holland Bequest.
  • Local School :
    Review Poetry & Prose Competition;
    Discuss with local school(s) a programme of assistance/projects to help in the development of lifelong and business skills.
  • Young Musician Competition : Organise a local competition and host the District Semi-
    Final with a new venue.
  • Young Writers' Competition : Review the competition with local schools.
  • Euroscola : Select and sponsor a student on the Euroscola programme.
  • Youth Short Exchange Programme : Provide support for local young people interested in exchange with overseas.
  • Excitement of Science : Promote the project with a local school.
  • Design Award : Organise a competition with local schools and sponsor entry to District Competition.
  • Mentoring : Continue the project to provide mentors for local youngsters.
  • RYLA : Select and sponsor a candidate for the 2007 RYLA course.
  • Young Chef : Organise a local competition and sponsor entries to District Competition.
  • Environment :
    Monitor and maintain previous projects;
    Establish the award scheme for local young people;
    Continue to maintain Sixfields roundabouts in conjunction with other Rotary Clubs;
    Consider the creation of a Butterfly Garden.
  • Visits : Arrange visits to interesting venues.
  • Rotakidz : Establish a project with local primary school.

 

Fundraising & Social

2006/7

  • Dragon boat racing: -
    work with the other Northampton Clubs on this event on the local calendar
  • Continue with the very popular Golf Day
  • Run the annual Boxing Evening in conjunction with Kingsthorpe Boxing Club
  • Organise the Christmas collections with the Carol Float
  • Continue the non-
    Christmas collections at Wyvale Garden Centre
  • If possible (as the venue is uncertain), continue running Car Boot Sales

 

International Service

2006/7

  • Plan and hold the International Evening, with Sally Kettle and the RowGirls as speakers. Funds to AquaBoxes and to Zimbabwe Oxygen Concentrator
  • Complete a 'water-aid' project in Tanzania
  • Continue support for the Pakistan Earthquake appeal
  • Support the RIBI and District's key appeal for 'shoe boxes'.
  • Used Postage Stamps: This is as an ongoing programme and we will continue to collect used postage stamps for the "Save the Children Fund".

 

Rotary Foundation

2006/7

Continue to assist the International and Community Service committees maximise their financial potential to give help and assistance through

  • matching grants
  • District simplified Simplified Grants
  • 3H Grants

 

The funds to lever up what is raised by the Club come from the Rotary District and from Rotary International.

  • Organise Group Study Exchange in September
  • Work with the 2006 Ambassadorial Scholars
  • Boost RIBI funds through the Tea Caddy Project and Tea parties
